Back in December, 2015, the night before Zainab Baji’s Mehendi, we were all preparing and setting decor for the event next day. We decided to put some tinsel on every single umbrella in the house. Though most of the material was available at home but we were short on a few pieces of tinsel. It was already past 9 PM so we were spectacle if leaving to buy some more at that hour would be helpful or not. This is when Aafi Bhabi made a decision to ‘just do it’. That was the thing about her. She was extremely active, helpful and resolute to get things done as efficiently as possible.
So we hurriedly left the home to hunt for any Tesco branch that might be open at that hour. That 2 hour endeavor is the best memory I have with her. As we rushed through the empty roads of England, chatting, giggling and rushing to find an open Tesco, we had so much fun doing it all. Luckily, We did make it to the shop and got the tinsels that we needed.
Eversince that day, tinsels have become really special to me because I never thought that the search for something so simple would become such a heartwarming memory with one of the most charming people ever.
