How I met your mother

The kids asked me how I met their mother…..I opted against going 10 seasons to get to the crux of it.

I met Aafi through a mutual friend while I was a medical school. Our mutual friend was quite diminutive so obviously being giant I took great pleasure in those who were comparatively vertically challenged. Aafi and I started chatting and via an old social media platform called Hi5.

We became good friends very quickly. We both had different plans for life but as our friendship grew, our ships seemed to line up. We talked about and shared many common values and our ambitions ultimately centred around having a nice stable family life. We were boring from the get go. The idea of a cheeky nandos was as exciting as our life got and we loved the prospect of it.

Almost 18 months after we first met we discussed the possibility of getting together, 12 months after that I proposed and 12 months after that we were married. I like to joke that I did a really robust risk assessment, but I eventually confessed to Aafi that I knew I was going to marry her the day I met her. Her dimples, smile and laugh captivated me and she was so easy to get on with.

I have always loved my job, but going home to my family has always been the best part of my day
