Aafrine was born in North-East England where she spent her formative years. She went to Leeds University to study Medicinal Chemistry and dater graduating returned to the North-East to do a Masters degree.

After a period of working in both the chemical and financial sectors, Aafrine relocated to the Midlands after getting married.

She enjoyed motherhood and raised two wonderful children in a home full of love and happiness.

In 2019, Aafrine was diagnosed with metastatic lung cancer. She resolutely fought for four years before it had spread beyond the scope of treatment. She eventually passed away 4 years and 3 months after the original diagnosis.

Who was Aafrine Ahmed

Aafrine went by multiple and affectionate names. Growing up she was Friney, but then to her mature friends she became Frin. To others, including me, she was Aafi or Dimples – you can see why. She giggled and she laughed. Sometimes if she laughed too much she would collpase in a heap on the nearest soft furnishings.

She loved rom-coms, poetry, gardening, baking and anything that involved family time.

She had several nieces and nephews in addition to children of her own who loved her to pieces. In addition to was best friend to many of our friends children as well.

She was so chilled, enjoying nothing more than tea, something to dunk in the tea and good chat. But she did become a mama bear on occasions when absolutely necessary. Cancer didn’t slow her down, it made her speed up her personal timetable. At the end she was happy to get done what she felt she needed to.

In The End

She succumbed to the cancer in mid-September 2023. But even till the end she would smile when she saw or heard her children. The smiles and reactions still being as adorable as they had always been. The purpose of this page is to serve as a memorial to her and also as an opportunity for those who knew her to share the impact that Aafi had on them.
